Hello Kitty is an international superstar wherever she goes, but in her home country, she is the queen bee. Sanrio, which owns the Hello Kitty license, is not shy about letting other companies share in Hello Kitty’s popularity (with proper royalties, of course) and this creates some interesting partnerships. Hello Kitty has partnered with the classic metal band KISS, graced the label of a can of motor oil, and can be seen all over Tokyo streets as a road construction barrier, riding a rainbow, no less.
