This past week, Glico released two special flavors of their popular Pocky snack. For those who are not familiar with Pocky, the chocolate covered biscuit sticks sold worldwide, you might be from Europe where they are branded “Mikado”. Just in time for the Rio Summer Olympics, Brazilian Orange flavored Pocky are readily available in supermarkets and convenience stores across Japan. Coconut presumably has nothing to do with the Olympics but is perhaps thought of as a summer flavor. Pocky makes a great alternative to Kit Kat as a Japanese souvenir with unusual flavors and places like First Avenue in Tokyo Station sell giant sized Pocky boxes for that purpose.
